It’s a substitute for a social life, I firmly believe. Easy interaction – - – sans real interaction.
Oh: and for the trolls, it’s therapy that they need, but which will never recieve in an office.

It is a place to go when you want to help or you really need help with something.
Though correcting someone on every grammatical error or spelling error is a bit extreme, posting quality here is rather low which can make it hard to answer questions, especially when they’re illegible.

i like to talk to others and help them with answers but i do get sucked into answering back the bigots. honestly i don’t know why i bother reading their questions because all they want is attention

It’s an outlet for me. I like to answer questions where I think my experience might help them. And while I agree that a lot of folks on here have pretty poor grammar, most may be from another country, so I give them the benefit of the doubt.
In my mind there are certain area’s of my life that are personal and I will not comment on others views, one is religion. Each to their own, live and let live. While I might disagree with the philosophy, I will not answer those questions. Sex is another area that is personal. Why someone asks… well you get the picture.
So if I can read and understand the question, and have some experience or knowledge about the topic and can help, I answer. Otherwise I go onto another question.
My pet peeve is abbreviations!

If you need real help go to a professional not some random person on line who is not qualified to help.
