Depends where you are. Here in my city, it’s 18 dollars and up for piano, voice, and all other lessons. That’s only for half an hour.

Regarding purchasing a student violin, a “used” instrument is the opposite of what you think: “used” instruments are usually better–and far more expensive– than “new” ones.
What you want is a good, so-called “student violin.” See:

Good lessons can easily run you $45-$60 per hour. Starting out, you might not need hour long lessons, meaning $25-$30ish for half-hour lessons. You might be able to find a student teacher who could do it cheaper, but it really depends on where you live.
Most likely, you’re going to need your own violin.

It depends on how much time you want for a violin lesson.
30 minutes – $20.00
45 minutes – $30.00
1 hour – $40.00
You can always rent violins from your nearest music store, genereally cost around $15.00 a month, but after a while of learning the violin, you increase in ranks, so you can start buying violins!

cheapest possible for violin should be 35 an hour for a certified teacher. Some lessons go up to 90 an hour haha. But overall, a good teacher will need at least 40 an hour. The only certified teacher i had i had for 4 years and it was 50 an hour. Before that, a college student taught me for 35 an hour. You should rent a violin. USUALLY teachers dont just have violins for students to borrow. Also, if you want to buy a violin, basically you WANT to buy a used violin because they are better and more expensive (if hand made and is kept up well). However, maybe if it’s a beginner violin, used will definitely be cheaper. Reading music before you start taking lessons would be a good idea just because you can start off running with a teacher. If not, you would just start off a little slower.

It really depends on where you live and what teacher you want to learn from.
Good teachers can charge up to $100 while others cost $20. My first teacher cost $30 and now that I’ve been learning longer and need a better teacher, it now costs $75.
You should probably buy just a cheap violin to start out with and they will teach you to read treble clef.
